The feminine, established as a secondary, and thus inferior, counterpart to the masculine, has historically been inscribed as mischievous, seductive, lascivious, mistrustful and vengeful. In this group exhibition, co-curated by Renata Azevedo Moreira and Treva Michelle Legassie, eight installations propose possibilities for reimagining these stereotypical notions. The works celebrate the formerly marginalized potentials of the feminine and question how to be and have a feminine body in a queer world.
How can we manipulate the forces of evil, destruction and temptation, to which the feminine has been bound, in order to reclaim its very notion?
Exibition organized as the field work of my Ph.D dissertation Becoming Artwork: A Process-Based Analysis of a Curatorial Experience in Media Art.
